Deterministic Logging
The architectural practice of recording not just that an agentic decision occurred, but why it occurred — capturing the specific input data, the logic gate triggered, the confidence score, and the output produced, so that the business's operations can be replayed and verified by any auditor at any point.

Standard server logs track events. An API was called. A record was updated. A workflow completed. These are receipts — they confirm that something happened, at what time, with what surface-level outcome. Deterministic Logging tracks causation: what specific data caused which logic gate to fire, under what parameters, producing which output. The distinction is the difference between a transaction receipt and a flight recorder. The former tells you what happened. The latter tells you exactly why. In a human-run business, causation is recoverable through memory, testimony, and documentation. A manager can explain why a decision was made because they made it. In an autonomous business, the decisions are made by agents operating at machine speed across dozens of simultaneous workflows. Without Deterministic Logging, the causation behind those decisions is irrecoverable after the fact. With it, every decision the system has ever made is auditable in sequence, in full context, indefinitely.
